I've heard of this working occasionally, but you might have to get it reprogrammed. EDIT: Just looked it up, here's how to do it: Put the key in the ignition, turn the key to the "accessory position", and hold the unlock button for at least 5 seconds. This should do the trick.
If the central locking system is not working on your Citroen C2 and the garage has quoted a high price for a new key and programming, here are a few things you can check: Check the fuses: Check the fuses for the central locking system. It's possible that a blown fuse could be causing the issue.
Managed to get the door open. The manual says turn the key anticlockwise which did not work. Turning key clockwise did open the door but central locking not working on drivers door!! The manual seems set up for left hand drive cars. Is this the same for the fuses. There is a fuse box in front of each door.
The vehicle will still start OK with the key. Technically, there is a short delay when selecting OFF OFF with the remote fob still working, but after a few mins, it will be dead. The OFF OFF position is a storage mode (probably called PARK) to preserve the main battery life, often on motorhomes using the Ducato chassis.
